สองฝ่ายมีความเห็นสอดคล้องเกี่ยวกับตลาดการค้าที่มีศักยภาพระหว่างกัน และเห็นพ้องที่จะแลกเปลี่ยนความร่วมมือระหว่างกระทรวงพาณิชย์และ TDAP รวมทั้ง KCCI ในการดำเนินกิจกรรมส่งเสริมการค้าและการลงทุน การแลกเปลี่ยนการเยือนระหว่างคณะผู้แทน รวมทั้งความร่วมมือด้าน e-Commerce และจะพิจารณาการจัดทำบันทึกความเข้าใจระหว่างกัน

ฝ่ายไทยรับทราบแนวทางและมาตรการส่งเสริมเศรษฐกิจการค้าของฝ่ายปากีสถานภายใต้ข้อกำหนดของกองทุนการเงินระหว่างประเทศ และความประสงค์ที่จะพัฒนาการค้าด้านสิ่งทอ อาหาร เกษตรและเครื่องจักรที่เกี่ยวข้อง และปุ๋ยอินทรีย์ นอกจากนี้ กงสุลใหญ่ยังได้หยิบยกประเด็นความตกลงการค้าเสรีไทย-ปากีสถานที่ยังคั่งค้างและอยู่ระหว่างการเจรจา โดยขอให้ฝ่ายปากีสถานสานต่อการเจรจาฯ เพื่อสองฝ่ายบรรลุความตกลงฯ อันจะเป็นประโยชน์ต่อการส่งเสริมการค้าระหว่างไทย-ปากีสถานในระยะยาว

การพบหารือดังกล่าวนับเป็นการกระชับความร่วมมือและการทำงานร่วมกันในด้านการค้าการลงทุนระหว่างไทย-ปากีสถาน เพื่อสร้างโอกาสทางการค้าระหว่างสองฝ่ายต่อไป

 

On 24-25 September 2023, Mr. Narut Soontarodom, Consul General of Thailand in Karachi, and Mr. Khemathat Archawathamrong, Director of the Office of International Trade Promotion in Dhaka, met with Mr. Muhammad Zubair Motiwala, Chief Executive of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), and Mr. Muhammad Tariq Yusuf, President of the Karachi Chamber of Commerce (KCCI), and KCCI board members to discuss trade and investment cooperation between Thailand and Pakistan.

Both sides saw significant potential for increased trade between the two countries and expressed readiness to cooperate between the Ministry of Commerce of Thailand, TDAP, and KCCI in promoting trade and investment, exchanging delegation visits, e-commerce, as well as exploring a memorandum of understanding.

The Thai side noted Pakistan’s economic and trade promotion guidelines and measures under the requirements of the International Monetary Fund, and expressed interest in promoting trade in textiles, agro food and related machinery, and organic fertilizer. Consul General also raised the issue of the Thailand-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which is still pending, and requested that Pakistan continue the negotiations so that the two countries can reach an agreement that will be beneficial to long term Thailand-Pakistan trade.

This meeting is an important step towards strengthening trade and investment cooperation between Thailand and Pakistan. The two sides are committed to working together to create opportunities for businesses in both countries.
