            1. On 13 Feb 2020 CG, Mr. Apipan Cheecharoen, Deputy CG, and Mr. Mubeen Ansari, the Consulate’s Business Information Center officer  paid a courtesy call on Mr. Saquib Rauf, congratulating him for his newly appointment as Director and Duputy Chief of Protocol (DCP), MOFA (Camp Office). The new DCP replaced Mr. Shoaib Mubarak, who left for new posting at Pakistani Consulate in Bradford, and had been positioned at the Middle East Division, National Assembly & Senate Affairs, Human Resource and Career Planning Division and had been posted in NY, USA; Tehran, Iran; and Brussels, Belgium.

            2. DCP clarified CG on Non Objection Certificate (NOC) which CG needs to acknowledge the Camp before going out of Karachi, for the Camp could forward to the Ministry of Interior for further security action. DCP accepted it takes quite longer time to get the NOC due to security clearance, sometimes it takes more than usual time, but traveling to open areas would not take much time.(Attachment)

            3. CG informed DCP that because the present lease agreement of the Thai Consulate’s Chancery will be expired shortly in May 2020 and should the lease not extended the office will have to be moved. DCP replied that the Consulate has to inform the MOFA for consideration if it wants to buy the land and property, but the Consulate can only send a Note to MOFA for acknowledgment if it wants to rent new premises.

            4. They both also exchanged views on matters of bilateral interest such as the camp offices (which are in provincial capitals to facilitate diplomats and foreign missions), tax exemption and VAT refund (which can be submitted in camp offices but approved and issued by MOFA, Islamabad), retirement age (which is 60 years of age for all Pakistan state officers), bureaucrat recruitment, etc.
