On 11 Mar 2019, Thai Consul General (CG) paid a courtesy call on Honorable Mr. Imran Ismail, Governor of Sindh Province, at the Governor House, Karachi. The Governor mentioned that he was pleased with the Consulate’s visa issuance procedure which is flexible to Pakistani tourists to Thailand. The Governor also mentioned that he would like to promote and strengthen bilateral trade and business between Thailand and Pakistan by offering his Governor House as a  venue for Thai trade exhibition to promote Thai products to Karachi. At this juncture, CG gave a brief account on Thailand-Pakistan FTA update and provided him with information about Pak-Thai Friendship Association & Business Forum whose executive members are major Thai product importers. Besides, CG informed the Governor that recently a group of Thai businessmen in cooling industries from Thailand participated in the exhibition on heating, a/c, ventilation, and refrigeration at the Karachi Expo Center on 13-15 Feb 2016 and also informed him that every year around September and October, TAT participates in Travel Mart at the Karachi Expo Center. CG opined that there is a good prospect between Thailand and Pakistan on tourism industry cooperation as Thai tourists mostly visit Taxila and Northern part of Pakistan including cooperation on fishery industry as Thailand imports seafood products from the Sindh Province.   At the end of the meeting, the Governor did mention that, in order to promote tourism, he would invite all the Consuls General in Karachi to visit the Chawkundi Tombs, one of the historical sites and cultural heritages of Sindh Province, one hour and a half drive from Karachi.
